Hi there!

My name's Seth Jahraus. I'm currently an intern at KCUR 89.3, Kansas City's NPR affiliate. I work as a producer on the station's podcast and live show teams. In between my work producing shows, I create feature pieces for the news section covering the people contributing to Kansas City's cultural landscape.

While working for KCUR's podcast department, I produce the daily news show "Kansas City Today", pitch and lead production for our sports podcast "SportsBeat KC", and mix the episodes for our longer form podcasts "A People's History of Kansas City" and "Up from Dust."

For our live show, I pitch segments daily, researching guests and writing scripts for our host to ensure we have a smooth and accurate show every morning. In my work, I center Kansas City's community while brainstorming show topics and guests, making it a priority to reflect the city's diverse communities and perspectives in our segments.

Before KCUR, I've also worked as a multimedia journalism intern at Rocky Mountain PBS and as the founder/producer of the podcast "Colorado 1st" at the Denver and Colorado Springs Gazette. My start in journalism came after fluking my way into a news editor position at my small school newspaper. My very first stories came from the 2024 student protests. I got hooked, and my time at the paper allowed me to graduate with honors in journalism.

When I'm not at the station, I try my best to explore everything my hometown has to offer. Whether it's finding the best cafe for my snobby coffee order or the best pitch in town for some pickup soccer, I'm constantly trying to find out more about the place I find myself living in once again.
